Solve the following.

The ratio of two numbers is 3 : 5. Sum of two numbers is 40. Find the numbers.

Sum of two numbers = 40

Ratio between the two numbers = 3 : 5

Sum of the parts = 3 + 5 = 8

∴First number =

Second number = 40 − 15 = 25
