Question
Solve the given pair of linear equations: 3√x+4√y=2,5√x+7√y=4112(x>0,y>0)
Open in App
Solution
For equations 3√x+4√y=2.....(i) 5√x+7√y=4112...(ii)(x>0,y>0) Multiplying (i) by 5 and (ii) by 3 15√x+20√y=10...(i) 15√x+21√y=414.....(ii) (ii)- (i) subtracting the eq(i) from eq(ii) we get, 1√y=14⇒y=16 Substituting the value of y in (i), we get x=9
Hence, the values of x and y are 16 and 9 respectively.
