Question

Solve the given pair of linear equations:
3x+4y=2,5x+7y=4112(x>0,y>0)

Open in App
Solution

For equations
3x+4y=2.....(i)
5x+7y=4112...(ii)(x>0,y>0)
Multiplying (i) by 5 and (ii) by 3
15x+20y=10...(i)
15x+21y=414.....(ii)
(ii)- (i) subtracting the eq(i) from eq(ii) we get,
1y=14y=16
Substituting the value of y in (i), we get
x=9
Hence, the values of x and y are 16 and 9 respectively.
