We know that the quadratic formula is x=b±b24ac2a

Therefore, substitute a=8,b=1 and c=2 in the formula as follows:

x=b±b24ac2a=(1)±(1)2(4×8×2)2×8

=1±1+6416

=1±6516
Hence, x=1+6516 or x=16516
