Question

Solve the pair of equations for x0,y0:2x+3y=2xy and 6x+12y=7xy.

Open in App
Solution

2x+3y=2xy

2xxy+3yxy=2

2y+3x=2

6x+12y=7xy

6xxy+12yxy=7

6y+12x=7

Let 1x=u,1y=v

3u+2v=2 ...(1)

12u+6v=7...(2)

Multiply eq. (1) by 4 and subtract it form eq. (2)

12u+6v=712u+8v=8

2v=1

v=12

Put v=12 in eq. (1)

3u+1=2

3u=1

u=13

u=13x=3

v=12y=2

x=3,y=2
