Solve the pair of linear equations by cross-multiplication method.

Solution

$2 x - 5 y = 4$ ........(1)

$3 x - 8 y = 5$ ..........(2)

$8 \times (1) - 5 \times (2)$ gives us,

$x = 7$

substitute the value of x in eqn (1), we get,

$y = 2$
