Solve the quadratic equation $2 x^{2} + 7 x + 6 = 0$ by factorisation.

Solution

We have,
$2 x^{2} + 7 x + 6 = 0$
$\Rightarrow 2 x^{2} + 3 x + 4 x + 6 = 0$
$\Rightarrow (2 x + 3) + 2 (2 x + 3) = 0$
$\Rightarrow (2 x + 3) (x + 2) = 0$
$\Rightarrow 2 x + 3 = 0$
$\Rightarrow x = \frac{- 3}{2}$
Similarly,
$\Rightarrow (x + 2) = 0$
$\Rightarrow x = - 2$ .
