Solution

Dear studentgiven that the frequency of voice is = 260hzand wavelength of voice = 1.29mnow velocity of wave = v = wavelength × frequency v= 260 * 1.29 v= 335.4 m/s now given time after which man hears echo = 2 secondlet the distance of hill from man be x meters the distance travelled by wave in 2 sec = 2 x (as the wave propagates away from man to the hill and back to him as hears the echo, so distance travelled by wave becomes 2 x) v = 2x2 (as velocity = distance/time) 335.4 = 2x2 therefore distance between the man and hill is 335.4 m.Regards
