Solution

Dear Student,

C3H7COOC2H5, is an ester , ethyl butyrate.

Left side part of formula of ether (C3H7CO-) containing CO part is derived from acid whereas rightside part (-OC2H5) id derived from alcohol.

So, in C3H7COOC2H5, the acid will be C3H7COOH, butanoic acid and the alcohol will be C2H5OH, ethanol.

Reaction of butanoic acid and ethanol in presence of sulphuric acid yields ethyl butyrate.

C3H7COOH + C2H5OH Conc. H2SO4 C3H7COOC2H5 + H2O
