Given
$x^{2} + 2 = 0$
Step 1 : $x^{2} + 2 = 0$

Step 2: Simplification
$\Rightarrow x^{2} + 2 = 0 \Rightarrow x^{2} = - 2$
Taking square root on both sides
$\Rightarrow \sqrt{x^{2}} = \sqrt{- 2}$
$\Rightarrow | x | = \sqrt{2} \times \sqrt{- 1} \Rightarrow x = \pm \sqrt{2} \times \sqrt{- 1}$

Step 3 : As we know, $i = \sqrt{- 1}$
$∴ x = \pm \sqrt{2} i$

The values of $x$ are $\sqrt{2} i$ and $- \sqrt{2} i$
