Some amount of common salt is dissolved in a beaker full of water. How does this affect the boiling point of water?
Boiling point increases.
During boiling, the particles of water try to break up the forces of attraction with the other water particles. Adding salt to water increases the number of forces of attraction to be broken overall. Thus some additional heat is required to bring the water to boiling stage. Thus, the boiling point of water increases as we add salt to it.
