Solution

Vegetative propagation:

  1. Vegetative propagation is a form of asexual reproduction occurring in plants in which a new plant grows from vegetative propagules of the plants such as stems, leaves, buds, roots, etc.

Stem cutting:

  1. Stem cutting, is a type of artificial or man-induced vegetative reproduction in which a piece of stem is cut such that it has a node in its basal part from which roots can appear.

Advantages of growing crop plants from stem cutting over seeds are as follows:

  1. Easy to form a seedless plant. For example, rose.
  2. Grows in a short span of time in comparison to crops grown from seeds.
  3. Rapid multiplication can be done by this method.
  4. It preserves the desired character.
  5. Very easy and an economical method
