Uses of Metals. Metals and their alloys with other metals find extensive use in our daily life. Iron, copper, aluminium, silver, gold, etc., are extensively used. Iron or steel is used for the construction of bridges, houses, automobile parts, etc.
Non-metallic compounds, such as cement and glass have innumerable uses in modern civilisation. Hydrogen is used in the hydrogenation of vegetable oils to make vegetable ghee. It is used in the manufacture of ammonia. Liquid hydrogen is used as a rocket fuel.
