Some of the rivers are on the verge of extinction or are in the list of endangered rivers.
Due to acute water pollution, several rivers are becoming extinct or are already in the list of endangered rivers.
Also, rise in global temperature and cutting of trees along the river banks has led to the drying of rivers.

The list of such rivers includes Yangtze, Mekong, Salween, Ganges, Indus, Danube, La plata, Rio grande, Nile-lake victoria and Murray-Darling.
