The leaves that are deep red, violet or brown in color have those colors due to the presence of carotenoid or xanthophyll pigments.
But all these leaves also possess the green pigment called chlorophyll, which is why they can perform photosynthesis.
The color is not green in such leaves because carotenoid and xanthophyll pigments are more compared to chlorophyll, but still photosynthesis will continue.
