Question

Some quintals of wheat and some quintals of bajri are cultivated from the field of Lalbhai.The yield of bajri is 5 quintals less than double the yield of wheat.If the total yield of both, wheat and bajri is 115 quintal, find the individual yield of wheat and bajri.

Solution

Suppose , the yield of wheat is x quintals.
Cultivation of bajri is 5 quintals less than double the yield of wheat i.e (2x-5)
Total yield of both , wheat and bajri (x+(2x-5)) is 115 quintals .
x+(2x5)=115
x+2x=5=115
3x5=115
3x=115+5
3x=120
x=1203
x=40
The yield of wheat is 40 quintals.
2x5=2(40)5
=805
=75
The yield of bajri must be 75 quintals.
