Question

Sometimes we use 9.8 m/s2 for the value of acceleration due to gravity and sometimes we use 10 m/s2 for the value of acceleration due to gravity. What is the reason behind this?

Solution

The actual value of acceleration due to gravity is equal to 9.8 m/s2

But sometimes for simplicity in calculations, we round off the value and assume the approximate value of g as 10 m/s2.

You should assume g value as 9.8 m/s2 unless mentioned in the question as 10 m/s2.
