In the 1990s, there was a significant depletion of timber and firewood around Behroonguda due to timber smuggling. The village community then decided to organise themselves into a Forest Protection Committee. In 1993, the State Forest Department approached the village to include it in their Joint Forest Management Programme. Soon, effective steps were taken like patrolling of the forest area, corrective actions against defaulters, and regular meetings. The combined effort of the Government and the community delivered stellar results!
