The image was first made out of wax and then covered with clay and a tiny hole would be made in the clay shell. The entire block was then allowed to dry. Once the outer shell was dry, the entire block was heated. This would heat the wax inside and molten wax would flow out of the hole. Once all the wax is out, the molten bronze would be poured inside the hollow shell. Once the metal cooled, the clay shell would be broken and the bronze figure inside would be taken out.
