A fuel with higher calorific value is better than a fuel with a low calorific value.

From real life experience, it is observed that coal is a better fuel than wood. Still, it is not good enough to replace the LPG cylinders used in our kitchens. Hydrogen is so powerful that we are yet unable to safely control and use it for commercial fuel.

Hence, calorific values of fuel follows the following order:
Wood > Coal > LPG > Hydrogen
Fuel Calorific Value (kJ g1)
Wood 17 - 22
Coal 25 - 33
LPG 55
Hydrogen 150
