Babur inherited the ancestral kingdom of Farghana. In 1504, Babur seized Kabul. Later, he secured Kandahar, a strategic site now in Afghanistan. In 1519 CE, he had tried to enter India through the Punjab region and succeeded in capturing Bhera in that raid. In the First Battle of Panipat, Babur proclaimed himself the Emperor of Delhi and Agra.
