Solution

Sponges are aquatic and live in a marine environment. Water enters the body of the sponge through minute pores called ostia present in the body wall. From ostia, water enters into the central cavity called spongocoel. The water then moves out of the body through another opening called osculum. This movement of water brings in food and respiratory gases into the body of the sponge and also removes the cellular wastes.
