Question

Sound cannot travel in vacuum. It can propagate through solids. On moon if sound cannot propagate through air then why cant it propagate from Moon's mass or body. If we place our ear on the soil, we dont we hear the sound for sound propagates though solids.

Dear Student ,
Here the option given by you is not perfect .There is no source of sound on the surface of the moon .The sound moves through a particular medium .But there is no atmosphere on the surface of the moon so without any medium how sound can be propagated from one place to another .Though a vibration can travel through the solid so moon's solid surface or through the moon's soil sound can propagate .
And yes we can hear sound when sound travels through a soil when we replace our ear in the soil then we can hear the vibration of the sound .
