Question

Distinguish between uniform motion and non-uniform motion. Is uniformly accelerated motion uniform motion? Give one example of each of uniform and non-uniform motion.

Solution

Uniform motion

When a body covers an equal distance in an equal interval of time then the motion of the body is called uniform motion. In uniform motion, acceleration is zero.

For example - A car traveling at constant speed.

Non-uniform motion

When a body travels unequal distances in equal intervals of time then it is called non-uniform motion.

For example - A ball falling freely

No uniformly accelerated motion is not a uniform motion because in uniform motion acceleration is always zero.
