Question

Why do the organisms belonging to the same species look similar to each other?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

The organisms of same species look similar. As cells generate copies of DNA during reproduction by involving several chemical processes. All these processes may have some variations while creating new DNA copies. Thus, the copies of DNA generated will be similar as the process is same but may not be always identical due to variations. Also, Species is grouping of one or more natural population of morphologically similar interbreeding individuals which are genetically distinct and reproductively isolated from others. Therefore, as the traits are passed on from one generation to another, same members of a species look similar.
