Solution

4. The Amazon river basin is sparsely populated because this river basin is covered with thick evergreen rain forest. Large scale human habitation is not possible in such an environment.

5. Rice is the main crop in the Ganga-Brahmaputra river basin because the climatic conditions in this region is ideal for rice cultivation. Rice cultivation requires high temperature and heavy rainfall. The Ganga-Brahmaputra river basin satisfies these conditions.

6. There are many big cities located along the banks of the river Ganga because the Ganga basin is very densely populated. This region is flat and fertile which can, therefore, support a dense population. Due to dense population, large cities like Kanpur, Allahaban, Varanasi, Patna and Calcutta have emerged along the banks of the river Ganga.
