18. A solution of H2SO4 is 80% by weight, having specific gravity 1.73. Its normally is.
(A) 18.0 (B) 28.2
(C) 1.0 (D) 10.0

(18) The specific gravity = density of the solution = 1.73 gm /ml
Mass of the solute ( sulphuric acid ) = 80 gm and the mass of the solution = 100 gm
Now the volume of the solution = mass / density = 100 / 1.73 = 57.8 ml or 57.8 /1000 = 0.0578 L
As we know that equivalent weight of sulphuric acid = 49
The number of gram equivalent of sulphuric acid = mass / eqivalent mass = 80 / 49 = 1.63 gm eq.
Again the Normality = No. of gm. equivalent / volume (in L ) = 1.63 / 0.0578 = 28.2 N (Option B)
