  1. The species of plants and animals that are found exclusively in a particular area and do not occur naturally anywhere else.
  2. Such species are called endemic species to that state, country, or geographical area.
  3. For example - the Asiatic lion (Babbar sher) is endemic to Gir forests in Gujarat, the Himalayan weasel is endemic to the Himalayan region, and the snow leopard is endemic to the Himalayan range found from Kashmir to Sikkim.

Species found only in a particular area are known as Endemic species.
