Question

Specific charges of two particles A and B are in ratio 2:3,If their mass ratio mA:mB is 2:3, then find ratio of their charges (qAqB)?

Open in App
Solution

Given:
Ratio of mass, mAmB=23
Ratio of specific charge of A and B=23

Let the specific charge of particle A be QA and that of B is QB.

We know that:
Specific charge, Q=chargemass

Thus,
QAQB=qAmA×mBqB

Putting the valueof QA and QB in the above equation;
23=qAqB×32

Therefore,
qAqB=49

Thus, the ratio of the charges is 49.
