Stars appear to be twinkling, but planets do not. Why?

Solution
Planets are very close to the earth as compared to the stars.
The light from stars and the planet passes through layers with different temperatures which causes refraction of light.
The deviation of light for a point-sized object like the star is more therefore, it seems to twinkle.
On the other hand, the planets are non-luminous objects and they seem to be bigger so the deviation of light coming from the planet will not result in a twinkling.
