The distance between A and E
$=\sqrt{(EF{)}^2+(AF{)}^2}=\sqrt{(ED+CB{)}^2+(AB-FB{)}^2)}$
$=\sqrt{(ED+CB{)}^2+(AB-CD{)}^2)}=\sqrt{{12}^2+5^2}$
$=13m$.
His office is towards northwest of his house.
