Starting from rest, a partricle is moving along x-axis. The variation of force F with position x is shown in figure. Find the KE of the particle when it has moved from x=1 m to x=3 m.

The correct option is C 5 J

From work energy theorem:
Wnet=ΔKE ...(i)
Initially the particle was at rest KEi=0
Let final kinetic energy be KEf
ΔKE=KEf0=KEf...(ii)
From (i) & (ii) Eq:
Wnet=KEf....(iii)

Also, Wnet= Area under Fx curve
Wnet=Area of rectangle+ Area of trapezium
=(1×2)+12×(2+4)×1
Wnet=5 J

Putting the value of  Wnet in Eq. (iii),
KEf=5 J
