State and prove Baye's theorem.

Open in App
Solution

Bayes theorem is stated as P(A/B)=P(B/A)P(A)P(B)
Proof:
We can do it from set theory applied to conditional probability
P(A/B)=P(AB)P(B)
Likewise P(B/A)=P(AB)P(A)
Rearrange to get common terms as follows , P(AB)=P(A/B)P(B)=P(B/A)P(A)
Therefore we get P(A/B)=P(B/A)P(A)P(B)
This is basic statement of Bayes theorem
