State any three effects of heat.
Following are the three effects of heat:
Change in temperature:-
Whenever a substance is heated its temperature rises and it becomes hot. On the other hand, if a hot substance gives out heat, its temperature falls.
Thermal expansion/contraction:-
When heat energy is supplied to a substance its dimension increases. On the other hand, a substance contracts on cooling.
Change in the state:-
On gaining heat energy a solid may change into a liquid state or a liquid may change into a gaseous state. On the other hand, a gas on losing energy may change into a liquid and a liquid on losing energy may change into a solid.
