Dear student,
The following factors favor cross pollination in bisexual plants:
1. Dichogamy: it is the unequal maturation of stamens and pistils in bisexual plants. This means that they mature at different times. If the anther matures first, it is stalled protandry and if pistils matures first it is called protgyny.
2. Herkogamy: Development of a mechanical barrier between the male and female parts, preventing any communication between the two.
3. Self-incompatibility: in some cases, the pollen of the same plant is made incompatible to the pistils by some surface molecules.
All the best!
Regards.
