Open in App
Solution

  • Depending upon the plant surface involved, transpiration is of three types - cuticular, lenticular, and stomatal
  • Cuticular transpiration:- The surfaces of leaves and young/tender stems have a protecting, thin waxy covering called cuticle.
  • Transpiration that occurs through cuticles on the upper surface of leaves and stems is called cuticular transpiration.
  • Lenticular transpiration:- Lenticels are tiny openings or freckle-like spots.
  • Transpiration that occurs through lenticels that are present on the mature stems of plants is called lenticular transpiration.
  • Stomatal transpiration:- Stomata are tiny openings present on the epidermis of leaves.
  • Stomatal transpiration occurs through stomata on the lower surface of leaves.
