Transpiration: It is a process in which water is lost in the form of water vapor from the aerial parts of the plants.

Types of transpiration:

There are three types of transpiration depending on the surface involved.

  1. Cuticle transpiration: The cuticle is a wax-like covering on the epidermis of leaves and herbaceous stems that help in the reduction of water loss is called cuticle transpiration.
  2. Lenticular transpiration: Water loss that occurs through lenticels is called lenticular transpiration.
  3. Stomatal transpiration: The loss of water that occurs through stomata is called stomatal transpiration.
