Question

State how does lateral displacement through a glass slab depend upon:
1. Thickness of the glass slab
2. Angle of incidence

Open in App
Solution

Lateral displacement is given by, d=tsin(ir)cosr
where, t is the width of the slab,
i is the angle of incidence,
r is the angle of refraction.

The lateral displacement will increase with an increase in the thickness of the slab or an increase in the angle of incidence.
