Question

state joules law of heating give practical application of the heating effect of current

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Joule’s law of heating states that when a current ‘i' passes through a conductor of resistance ‘r’ for time ‘t’ then the heat developed in the conductor is equal to the product of the square of the current, the resistance and time.

Practical Applications

When electric current flows through the appliances, heat is produced. The flow of current that produce heat is called heating effect of the current. Amount of heat produced depends upon

1) The strength of the current through the wire.

2) The nature of the material and the length & thickness the given wire.

3) The time for which electric current flows through the given wire.
