Question

State Le Chatelier's principle?

Open in App
Solution

Le Chatelier's principle:
If an external stress is applied to a reacting system at equilibrium, the system will adjust itself in such a way that the effect of the stress is reduced.

Here stress means a change in concentration, pressure (volume) or temperature that will disturb the original equilibrium. The reaction proceeds to change the composition until the new equilibrium is approached.
