State one advantage of using an A.C over D.C.
An alternating current is considered to be advantageous over DC for long-range transmission of electric energy because it can be transmitted over long distances to distant places without much loss of electric power as compared to direct current. The AC is easy to generate than DC. It is cheaper to generate ac than dc. The ac generators have higher efficiency than DC. The loss of energy during transmission is negligible for ac. The AC can be easily converted into DC.
The major advantage that AC electricity has over DC electricity is that AC voltages can be readily transformed to higher or lower voltage levels, while it is difficult to do that with DC voltages. Since high voltages are more efficient for sending electricity great distances, AC electricity has an advantage over DC.
