State relevant observation: Action of Sodium hydroxide solution on Ferrous sulphate solution.

The reaction of Sodium hydroxide(NaOH) with Ferrous sulphate(FeSO4).

  1. On adding Sodium hydroxide(NaOH) to Ferrous sulphate(FeSO4) solution, a dirty green precipitate is formed.
  2. After some time the green ppt. turns into reddish brown ppt. which is insoluble in excess of Sodium hydroxide(NaOH).
