Open in App
Solution

Step 1: SI unit of mass:

  1. The SI unit of mass is the kilogram (kg).
  2. A kilogram is equal to the mass of the international prototype of the kilogram kept at the Bureau of International Weights and Measures.

Step 2: CGS unit of mass:

  1. For measuring light masses smaller units are used such as gram (g), milligram (mg)
  2. The CGS unit of mass is gram (g).

Step 3: Relation between Kilogram and Gram:

  1. 1g=11000kg=10-3kg
  2. 1mg=11000g=10-3g

Hence, the SI unit of mass is the kilogram (kg) and the CGS unit of mass is the gram (g).
