Solution
Damming the river converts its kinetic energy into potential energy. The potential energy that the water stored in dam possess is converted to kinetic energy when the water flows from dam to turbine through stock pipes. Then this kinetic energy helps the tubine to rotate. The force of the water is used to turn the turbines that turn the generator shaft. The turning of this shaft is known as rotational kinetic energy because the energy of the moving water is used to rotate the generator shaft. This generator converts this mechanical energy of turbine to electrical energy.
