A sinusoidal wave is characterized by the following 3 features.viz. Frequency ( or wave length), Amplitude & Phase difference
If two waves of have to interfere with each other. They should satisfy the following resonance conditions.
1. They should be of same frequency
2. They should have the same phase difference
3. The angle made by the waves should be zero.ie. they should orient in parallel.
The following conditions does not affect resonance.
1.amplitude of the two waves
2. the type of wave.. whether mechanical / electromagnetic /electrical
3.the direction is same or opposite
4.the shape of the waves. eg. A square wave can also combine with a sine wave, given that it has well defined frequency and periodicity same as that of the sine wave.
