State the conditions under which Delhi became an important commercial centre

Initially, Delhi became a capital kingdom under the rule of the Tomara Rajputs. They were later defeated by the Chauhans or the Chamanas in the 12^th century. After these set of events, Delhi became a commercial centre. Delhi became inhabited by many Jaina merchants who constructed many important temples too.
