State the difference between pinna and tympanum.

Pinna
It is the external structure of the ear made of skin and elastic cartilage. Its functions is to collect sound waves and direct them into the auditory canal inside the ear.
Tympanum
It is the membranous structure that separates the external ear from the middle ear. Its function is to transmit the sound waves which strike on it to the inner parts of the ear and produce vibrations.
