State the effect of green house gases on the temperature of earth's atmosphere.
The Greenhouse effect is the rise in the temperature of the Earth's atmosphere due tothe presence of certain gases , which trap the energy and heat from the sun.During the day the earth heats up due to the direct rays of the sun. At night, the heat trapped by the earth is radiated back into the atmosphere and then into space. However , gases like methane, water vapour, nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide, and now man made gases like chorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), absorb some of the energy and trap it in the lower atmosphere. This results in less heat radiating into space keeping the Earth warmer.
This is how the gases influence the temperature of the Earth.
