State the energy change taking place during respiration.

All cells need energy to survive. They obtain this energy by carrying or series of chemical reactions that are collectively known as respiration.
One physical phenomenon probably seen a fire burning or burnt fuel for warmth or cooking on light. A fire burning is one of the most noticeable examples of a chemical reaction that produces a lot of energy.
So, Countless chemical reactions take place in cells and are responsible for all the actions of organism's metabolism. The chemicals taking part in these reactions are called metabolites.
In all reactions
a) Chemical bonds in the reacting molecules are broken, this takes in energy.
b) New chemical bonds form to make the products, this gives out energy.
