  1. These valves guard the openings to the pulmonary artery and the aorta to prevent the backflow of blood into the ventricles.
  2. There are two types of semilunar valves -

(a) Pulmonary semilunar valve.

(b) Aortic and semilunar valve.

Pulmonary semilunar valve:

  1. It is composed of three half-moon-like segments.
  2. These valves lie at the junction of the pulmonary artery and right ventricle.
  3. It presents the backflow of blood to the ventricle.

Location of the pulmonary semilunar value:

These valves lie at the junction or base of the pulmonary artery and right ventricle.
